In India, the river Ganga holds immense significance. This river, with its sacred waters, has, since time immemorial, been a source of spiritual solace and cultural unity for millions. And Bangalore based artist Shibu Arakkal’s images with his father late Yusuf Arakkal’s art brings the ethos to life in our very own city.

While Yusuf’s paintings delve into the human condition with emotive energy and expressionism, Shibu’s photographs capture the sociological complexities and deep-rooted connections of the boatmen, known as Mallaah, who navigate the Ganga.
